Case Study
How We Took a New Site from 0 to 50K Monthly Visitors in 6 Months
In August 2025, a client came to us with a brand-new finance comparison site — zero domain history, zero backlinks, zero traffic. By February 2026, it was receiving 52,000 organic visits per month and ranking page one for 34 competitive keywords. Here is the exact strategy we used, including the link budget, the sequencing, and what didn’t work.
The Starting Point
The site launched with 45 well-researched articles covering personal finance topics — credit cards, savings accounts, and budgeting tools. On-page SEO was solid. The content was genuinely useful. But with no authority, Google wasn’t ranking any of it beyond position 40+. The client had a link-building budget of €1,800/month for 6 months.
Month 1–2: Foundation Links
We placed 8 guest posts on finance and personal finance sites with DR between 35 and 55, all through AuthorityLinkz. Each post was genuinely useful — budgeting guides, savings calculators explained, credit score breakdowns — with natural contextual links back to the client’s most important pages. We also secured 2 frontpage links on DR 40+ finance sites at €200/year each. Frontpage links pass authority faster because the homepage URL accumulates PageRank continuously.
📈 Result after 2 months: Domain went from DR 0 to DR 18. 12 target keywords moved from position 40+ to position 15–25. Organic traffic reached ~800 visits/month.
Month 3–4: Scaling Authority
We increased link velocity to 10 guest posts per month, focusing on DR 45–65 sites. We also began targeting longer-tail keywords with lower competition, which started ranking within 3–4 weeks given the site now had some authority behind it. Critically, we diversified anchor text aggressively — 60% branded, 25% generic, 15% exact-match keyword. This distribution mirrors natural link profiles and avoids over-optimisation penalties.
📈 Result after 4 months: DR reached 31. 8 keywords hit page one. Organic traffic jumped to 14,000 visits/month — a 17x increase from the month 2 baseline.
Month 5–6: Targeting Competitive Head Terms
With DR 31 and solid topical authority established, we shifted budget toward 6 higher-DR placements (DR 60+) on major finance publications. We also ran a link reclamation campaign, finding 23 brand mentions without links using Ahrefs Content Explorer. Twelve of those converted to links with a single outreach email — free link building at a 52% conversion rate.
📈 Final result (month 6): DR 44. 34 keywords ranking page one. 52,000 organic visits/month. The site’s estimated organic traffic value: €28,000/month equivalent in paid search costs.
What Didn’t Work
Two tactics underperformed: directory submissions (negligible ranking impact) and forum link building (high risk, minimal reward). We also tested one PBN-adjacent service early on — the links were delivered but showed zero correlation with ranking improvements and were later disavowed as a precaution.
The Repeatable Framework
Start with niche-relevant guest posts at DR 35–55. Add frontpage links for fast authority lift. Diversify anchors. Scale DR targets as your own domain authority grows. Budget €300–400/month minimum for meaningful velocity, and expect 90 days before significant ranking movement begins.
